UNMC welcomed new University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor Neal Schnoor, PhD, to the Omaha campus on Tuesday, Sept. 9, to meet with UNMC leadership and tour UNMC facilities.

Dr. Schnoor, who was joined by other UNK leadership, met with UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, as well as UNMC’s deans, directors and vice chancellors.

“We were delighted to welcome Dr. Schnoor and his leadership team to Omaha, share some of the exciting work happening on our campus and highlight how we serve students, patients and the broader Nebraska community,” Dr. Davies said. “We already have strong partnerships with our UNK colleagues, and this visit, along with our expansion in Kearney, will allow us to explore new opportunities for collaboration that benefit all of Nebraska and beyond.”

The UNK visitors toured the UNMC residence hall under construction and the iEXCEL health care simulation program at the Davis Global Center. UNK’s visiting administrators also toured the Catalyst building in the EDGE District.

Dr. Schnoor, who became chancellor July 1, said his goal remains to “deepen our partnership with UNMC to increase the health care workforce and economic development across greater Nebraska.”

He commended UNMC’s “commitment to preparing collaborative interprofessional health care professionals while innovating to improve technology, pedagogy, experiential learning, and research.”

Asked his message to the UNMC community, Dr. Schoor said: “Excitement continues to grow as the Douglas A. Kristensen Rural Health Education Complex nears completion. UNK is excited to welcome the growing number of UNMC professionals to Kearney and partner with UNMC to expand delivery of its programs statewide.”
