UNMC Facilities Management and Planning will temporarily shut down steam access for several buildings in the center part of the med center campus on the evening of Friday, Oct. 3. The shutdown is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will last for approximately eight hours.
The repairs will replace two actively leaking valves for safety and reliable steam production. It will take down steam sterilization, building heating, domestic hot water and space humidification.
The following areas will lose steam: University Tower 1-4, radiology, Eppley Institute, Eppley Science Hall and Lied Transplant Tower. Clarkson Tower will not be affected by this shutdown. In order to safely replace the faulty valves, steam needs to be isolated from the above buildings.
UNMC utilities staff will be performing the work.
With questions, contact Jonathan Magill, engineering project manager with UNMC Facilities Management and Planning-Utilities.
