How I fell in love with medicine and my specialty:
I was drawn to neurosurgery and spine because of the mixture of acuity, technically challenging procedures and rapid evolution of the field. I have a background in engineering, and many principles of engineering appear throughout the practice of neurosurgery and spine. New technologies and techniques are allowing us to treat more conditions less invasively, making it an exciting place to practice. I also enjoy the ability to treat patients in a variety of settings, including the operating room, emergency department and outpatient clinics.

- Midwest Neurosurgical Society
- American Association of Neurological Surgeons
