Training offered on web accessibility requirements

A virtual training session on creating and remediating documents to meet federal accessibility requirements will be held this Friday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m.

Attending one of UNMC’s training sessions is mandatory for those who manage content on unmc.edu or the UNMC intranet (info.unmc.edu), as well as WordPress blogs and policy wikis. A previous session was held Oct. 14.

The training also is open to anyone who works with documents that are made available to the public. Emailed documents also are subject to the federal requirements. For instance, a PowerPoint presentation that is emailed to a group of attendees after a conference must meet the accessibility requirements.

Training will cover tools that can be used for document accessibility. Document formats include Word, PDF, PowerPoint and Excel. Training is sponsored by the departments of strategic communication and information technology and will be presented by Siteimprove.
