University of Nebraska leadership sent this message on Thursday, Dec. 11, to NU colleagues to announce additional paid leave.

Dear colleagues,

As we approach the end of the semester and the close of an eventful year, we extend our sincere gratitude for everything you do to support our students, our research and our engagement across Nebraska. Your dedication and resilience continue to strengthen the University of Nebraska in countless ways, and we remain deeply appreciative of your contributions.

In July, we announced that the University of Nebraska would grant all leave-eligible employees two additional paid leave days in the current fiscal year. The first of these days was observed on Thursday, July 3, 2025, ahead of the Independence Day holiday, and the second is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025. To recognize your continued hard work and commitment to our shared missions, we are providing a third additional declared paid holiday for Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025.

For our essential employees who are required to work these days, please coordinate with your supervisors to schedule these additional declared paid holidays.

Your work sustains our students, research enterprise and engagement efforts across the state, and we are incredibly thankful for your service. We are grateful for each of you and all you do to move the University of Nebraska forward. We wish you a restful break and a wonderful holiday season.

With appreciation,
