Bethjoy Houck, PhD, will join the Munroe-Meyer Institute’s Department of Severe Behavior in January 2026.
Dr. Houck will take on a clinical role as faculty at MMI starting Jan. 1. She will handle a clinical caseload and supervise students working on clinical hours.
Dr. Houck comes from the University of North Texas, where she is on staff in the university’s department of behavior analysis.
In her role there, Dr. Houck oversees special projects related to community clinics. She also helped create workshops for teachers, nurses and nursing home staff.
At MMI, Dr. Houck hopes to have time for research as well.
“It seems like a place where people collaborate and work together across disciplines,” Dr. Houck said of MMI. “That was one of the biggest highlights. I really want to be part of everything that’s going on here.”
Dr. Houck’s hire also helps to increase the department’s capacity to serve more families, said director Tara Fahmie, PhD.
