The UNMC Staff Advisory Council has created a new pair of awards to recognize excellence and impact among employees at UNMC.
The UNMC Staff Awards Program, which are open for nominations through Friday, April 10, will highlight sustained excellence among UNMC staff, along with collaborative impact and contributions not captured by existing recognition programs.
“The UNMC Staff Advisory Council created these staff awards to assist with increasing staff professional development opportunities,” said Stacey Coleman, president of the Staff Advisory Council. “We learned when creating this council that recognition and professional development are paramount to continued staff engagement.”
The awards, which the UNMC Staff Advisory Council will oversee and administer, are:
- Above and Beyond Award: Recognizes a staff member who consistently exceeds expectations, demonstrates exceptional initiative and makes a significant positive impact beyond their regular job duties.
- Staff Excellence Award: Recognizes a staff member who demonstrates sustained excellence, leadership and dedication in their role while positively impacting colleagues, students, patients or the broader UNMC community.

The awards are open to all UNMC staff, and nominees must have completed at least three years of full-time service at UNMC at the time of nomination. Current members of the UNMC Staff Advisory Council are not eligible.
Nominees will be evaluated using UNMC’s iTEACH values on qualities such as integrity, initiative, problem-solving and their ability to support and uplift others.
In addition to the physical award and campus recognition, award recipients will receive $500 for use toward professional development.
