Registration open for women’s health and wellness conference

Registration now is open for the 29th annual Omaha Women’s Health & Wellness Conference on Oct. 16. It will be held at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha’s Aksarben Village from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The conference will provide a variety of health education lectures and a health fair with exhibits from UNMC and Nebraska Medicine departments, clinics and programs. The theme of this year’s conference is “Strong Together: Supporting Women Through Knowledge, Care and Connection.”

This conference will feature two main sessions:

  • Breanna Hetland, PhD, with the UNMC College of Nursing, will present on AI in Healthcare.
  • Priya Gearin, MD, assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Psychiatry, will present on the impact of loneliness across a woman’s lifespan and finding real connections.

The conference will have multiple breakout sessions. Breakout topics will include cardiovascular and women’s health, infertility and pregnancy loss’s impact on mental health, skin care, trauma informed care and applications within healthcare settings, incontinence, and gynecologic oncology treatment and personalized care.

The health fair will be offered in the morning, including optional blood work, for an additional fee. Blood work options include: Ferritin, vitamin D, comprehensive blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, glycohemoglobin A1C and thyroid stimulating hormone.

The conference is hosted by the Olson Center for Women’s Health, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. Continuing education will be provided for nurses and social workers. Registration fees are $75 for the general public and $110 for nurses and social workers. 

Registration closes on Friday, Oct. 9. There is no virtual component for the conference.
