How I fell in love with epilepsy: Epilepsy is a treatable, and sometimes even curable, condition, which is uncommon in neurology. Helping patients get better and regain control of their lives is incredibly fulfilling. I also enjoy working with a younger patient population, on average. On top of that, interpreting EEGs and discussing the findings with peers is fun and stimulating. There’s so much to learn about seizures from the patient’s history and the studies we perform.

Three things people may not know about me:
- I’m an avid rollerblader and often go on two-hour skating sessions; it’s my favorite way to work out. I love staying active and enjoy almost any kind of physical activity, though I don’t typically watch sports on TV.
- I’ve played in a few bands over the years and still enjoy making music whenever I can – whether it’s guitar, piano or just singing along.
- I’m a devoted animal lover and the go-to pet sitter for many friends. I’ve been told I’m great with even the most energetic dogs, and I’ve trained my cat to follow several commands, such as giving one or two paws.
