On Tuesday (Oct. 13), 41st Street in Omaha – between Dewey Avenue and Harney Street – will reopen and Harney Street will return to one-way only eastbound.
Access to the Lot 6 parking garage will return to two-way traffic from Dewey Street.
The street was closed mid-August to allow for the construction of emergency power conduits running from the East Utility Plant. The work was part of a project to install new utilities for Project Health, the future primary teaching hospital for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.
Additionally, 42nd Street – between Emile and Dewey Streets – will reopen in late December. The project, which was delayed due to inclement weather, includes a raised pedestrian crosswalk near Wittson Hall, as well new utilities that feed Clarkson Tower and the east side of campus. Landscaping will be completed in spring 2027.
