‘Research mini mart’ opens in the DRC II

You’re a UNMC researcher, you’re at work at 10 p.m., you’re on a roll but now you’ve just run out of pipette tips.

You have to call it a night, right?

Not anymore. Thanks to UNMC Purchasing and Fisher Scientific, a “research mini mart” has been installed just inside the loading dock area of the Durham Research Center II.

Supplies anytime

The new store gives researchers 24/7 access to lab products for the same price they would pay through purchasing. The store uses an automated system that allows researchers to charge products to their cost centers.

Claire Seybold of UNMC Purchasing checks out some of the products in UNMC’s new “research mini mart” in the Durham Research Center II. The store allows campus researchers to purchase common lab supplies at all hours.
Some of the supplies available in the store include:
  • Lab gloves in various sizes and materials;
  • Reagents for Western blotting;
  • PCR purification kits and reagents; and
  • Tissue culture flasks, dishes and plates.

Inventory suggestions

Stocked products can be changed depending on usage and requests from users.

Contact Fisher Scientific’s Dianna Jerman at dianna.jerman@thermofisher.com about products supplied in the store.

Store access

Researchers who don’t presently work in the Durham Research Center II will need to have their employee badges updated to access the store through the DRC II loading dock area.

Contact Fisher Scientific’s Dianna Jerman at dianna.jerman@thermofisher.com for more information about access to the store.
