Monkeypox is focus of Sept. 1 Science Café

Mark Rupp, MD, will present a virtual Science Café at 11 a.m. on Sept. 1 and discuss the latest news and information about Monkeypox.

“We will be discussing the latest trends and counts, as well as the clinical presentation of Monkeypox,” Dr. Rupp said.

He added that the Science Café also will focus on the vaccine, antivirals, and what people need to know to assess their risk and how to prevent themselves from acquiring the illness and how to prevent spreading it.

Dr. Rupp is a professor and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is the Medical Director of the Nebraska Medical Center Department of Infection Control & Epidemiology.

The virtual Science Café will be offered via Zoom and livestreamed to the Science Cafe Facebook page. Viewers do not need a Facebook account to view the livestream.

Science Cafés involve a conversation with an expert about current science topics. They are open to everyone. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. Experts give a brief presentation followed by a Q&A period.
