Dr. Olade focuses on elderly, nursing education

One woman’s journey into nursing education began with an opportunity she purposely missed.

Rosaline Olade, Ph.D., skipped her high school graduation to avoid a prearranged career in teaching. Today, she is an associate professor in the UNMC College of Nursing, department of gerontological, psychosocial & community health nursing.

The Sisters Together organization will hold its second annual “Back-to-School Get Together” school supply giveaway Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon to 3 p.m. (or until all the supplies are gone) at the Urban League Family Resource Center at 30th and Lake Sts. Camp Munroe serves extraordinary students

The charm of Camp Munroe is how ordinary it is. Staff members and volunteers create the traditional day camp activities: sing-alongs, art projects and community outings. But this camp is extraordinary because of the children it serves. These children have developmental disabilities.

Dr. Hanlon touts advantages of rural medicine

For the past 20 years, Robert Hanlon, M.D., of the Chadron Medical Clinic has volunteered his time as a faculty member in the rural preceptorship program. In May he received the UNMC College of Medicine’s Volunteer Faculty of the Month award.

Thomas Lynch, M.D., has received an Outstanding Teaching Award from the Association of Surgical Education. He was one of three recipients honored at the April meeting in Baltimore.
