Services for Alice Friedlander, co-founder of University Hospital Auxiliary, are today in Omaha. Friedlander served as director of volunteer services at The Nebraska Medical Center from 1972 to 1990.

Alice Friedlander, longtime director of volunteer services at the University of Nebraska Hospital and co-founder of the University Hospital Auxiliary, died Dec. 12. In spite of a major ice storm earlier in the day, more than 100 people attended the UNMC pre-party for the “Night of a Thousand Stars” event on Dec. 1, raising $8,420 for the Nebraska AIDS Project.

Edwin Chavez wants to be a doctor. Leticia Lopez wants to be a registered nurse. Aimee Ramos wants to be a pediatrician. All of these students represent the future of medicine, even thought it will probably be another nine years before any of the seventh- and eighth-graders set foot in medical school.
