Thanks in large part to the work of UNMC scientist Ira Fox, M.D., an international group of researchers has demonstrated that embryonic stem cells can be converted into liver cells and used to restore liver function in mice with liver failure. The findings are reported in the Nov. 5 issue of Nature Biotechnology, the leading international science journal in the field.
