Duo raises money, awareness for MMI autism program
One is a mathematical genius. The other is the head football coach at Notre Dame. Together they were a dynamic one-two punch in raising awareness and money for the autism program at UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute. In all, more than $642,000 was raised at two events.

UNMC to participate in AAMC Chronic Care Program
UNMC was selected recently by the Association of American Medical Colleges to participate in the nationwide Academic Chronic Care Collaborative. UNMC is one of 22 medical schools and teaching hospitals to participate in the new program designed to improve care of chronically ill patients.

UNMC student, Miss Douglas County talks hospice
As a senior nursing student at UNMC, Mary Bosshardt lives to “make every day count” by helping people cope with death. Last fall, Bosshardt, 22, was crowned Miss Douglas County 2005 with her platform “make every day count” – hospice family care. Since then, she has spent 20 to 30 hours a week working in and promoting hospice care while attending school.

Destination Midtown unveils neighborhood gardens
Destination Midtown Tuesday unveiled plans to establish “identity” gardens throughout the Destination Midtown neighborhood. The announcement was made at the corner of Woolworth Avenue and Turner Boulevard at the site of a similar neighborhood garden.

UNMC interested in Commercial Federal property
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Saturday will consider approving a seven-year contract between UNMC and the University of Nebraska Foundation to buy approximately five acres of land and buildings currently owned by Commercial Federal Bank.
