Dr. Gordon to lead national pediatric ethics review board
Bruce Gordon, M.D., associate professor of pediatrics and co-chairman of the Institutional Review Board at UNMC, has been named chairman of the newly constituted Pediatric Central Institutional Review Board. The National Cancer Institute made the announcement recently.

Historic walking tour promotes fitness
About 30 UNMC employees hit the pavement Tuesday to promote fitness and history. Howard Hamilton, author of a book on Omaha history called “Believe it, Omaha, (or Not)!,” led two, 60-minute historic walking tours through the nearby Gold Coast neighborhood.

Chancellor presents at national public health conference
Two Nebraskans were among nationally noted experts from around the country who made presentations during the First National Congress on Public Health Readiness in Washington D.C. Krajicek receives Gold U Award
Joe Krajicek grew up around hogs and cattle on the family farm near 92nd and Q streets. Today, the Gretna resident is surrounded by mice and rats, which make up 99 percent of the 15,000 animals on the UNMC campus. Krajicek, assistant director for operations for UNMC’s Comparative Medicine, has received the Chancellor’s Gold “U” Award for July for his leadership and commitment in caring for the animals used in UNMC’s research enterprise.
