Students collaborate on volunteer project
Last month, 16 UNMC medical students and 26 middle and high school students made 30 fleece lap cozies and decorated 140 pillowcases with brightly colored fabric markers to donate to children in local hospitals or shelters. The April 16 volunteer project was part of National Youth Service Day, the world’s largest volunteer service event.

UNMC grad pursues career in mental healing
While there is a major need for diversity in all areas of health services, there is an especially severe shortage of psychiatric specialists of color. This was just one of several motivating factors that led Hope Jackson-Konnath to graduate today as a psychiatric nurse practitioner from the UNMC College of Nursing.

Med center has state’s only JCAHO certified stroke center
The Nebraska Medical Center’s stroke program has received the “Gold Seal of Approval” from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) making it the first and only nationally certified stroke center in Nebraska.
