Neurosurgery pain symposium today
UNMC’s section of neurosurgery will present its first pain symposium today from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Storz Pavilion. Approximately 86 million Americans suffer from chronic pain and 66 million are partially or totally disabled.

UNMC earns high marks from postdocs
Postdoctoral fellows may be among the unsung heroes conducting research at UNMC, but they are singing the praises of the university. Results from a recently conducted survey show postdocs at the University of Nebraska, including those at UNMC, rank the university a great place to be a postdoc. Results of the Scientist magazine’s survey, “Best Places to Work for Postdocs,” were detailed in its Feb. 10 issue.

Recycling secure process for handling confidential materials
For the past 10 years, the voluntary recycling program at UNMC/NHS/UMA has diverted tons of materials from the city’s landfill. Now, the program will become mandatory to help UNMC/NHS/UMA meet the federal requirements for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
