Student Senate elections Nov. 11-12
Ballots will be cast this week for another presidential election. But, this time, UNMC students will vote for a new Student Senate president, who also will serve as a non-voting member of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents; as well as a student senate vice president and senators from the various colleges.

Friday Husker pick’em — Kansas
You gotta love Lisa Runco and Chad Kelsay. Last week they went with their hearts and picked Nebraska to upset Oklahoma. To be perfectly honest, I was right there with them. … Needless to say, by the end of the first quarter, Oklahoma was leading 35-0 and Runco, Kelsay and I all had to come to grips with the fact that our hearts had gotten the best of us.

Memorial service for Dr. Skultety set for Saturday
F. Miles Skultety, M.D., Ph.D., one of the key physicians who helped begin the transformation of UNMC from a hospital primarily providing indigent care into a major academic health science center during the 1970s and 1980s, died Monday at his home in Omaha after a battle with prostate cancer. He was 86.

‘Our Heartiest Thanks!’ Donate to the Food Bank
More than 15,000 children in Douglas County don’t know where their next meal is coming from. To help alleviate that situation, UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center, UNMC Physicians, Clarkson College, Sodexo and Private Practice Associates are joining together to collect food and household items to donate to the Omaha Food Bank. The drive’s slogan is “Our Heartiest Thanks!”
