UNMC students honored for tobacco-free education program
Each year, students in UNMC and Creighton University’s Family Medicine Interest Groups urge kids to be tobacco-free. Now, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has recognized their statewide educational efforts and awarded them the 2008 Tar Wars Star Award.

Medical center’s stroke care recognized nationally
UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, has been recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines(SM) (GWTG) program for the second year in a row for following evidence-based guidelines for treating patients with stroke.
