Learn about avian flu at UNMC’s Mini-Medical School
Scientists across the world are racing the clock to develop a vaccine to combat a deadly strain of avian H5N1 influenza, or bird flu, which has the potential to trigger a global pandemic. On April 13 and 20, UNMC’s Mini-Medical School will provide Nebraskans an opportunity to learn the facts about avian flu and how to prepare.

SHARING Clinics annual fun run/walk set for April 15
The SHARING Clinics are sponsoring the second annual SHARING The Trail fun run/walk to support the costs of providing health care to Omaha’s underserved populations. SHARING the Trail will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, at the Chalco Hills Recreation Area, near 156th Street and Giles Road.

James and John Clements are going their separate ways after 25 years. On Thursday, the twins and 117 of their classmates participated in the National Resident Matching Program, which reveals where graduating medical students will be spending the next three to five years of their life learning and doing their residency training.

Library produces how-to video on accessing health care
The UNMC McGoogan Library of Medicine wants to help. The library recently produced “Following the Clues: A Visit to the Doctor and the Library,” a 12-minute video narrated in English, Spanish and Sudanese-Nuer that shows viewers how to navigate the health care system and find health information at the library. Find out more about the on-campus premiere on March 20.
