Munroe-Meyer Guild’s annual garden walk, faire June 12
The 38th Annual Garden Walk will be Sunday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rain or shine). Sponsored by the Munroe-Meyer Guild at UNMC, proceeds will support MMI’s therapeutic, training and research activities benefiting children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities and chronic handicapping conditions.

Internal medicine research awards announced
Four UNMC researchers will receive the 2005 Internal Medicine Research Awards for exceptional achievements in research. The awards will be presented Friday, June 10, during the internal medicine grand rounds at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium. College of Nursing opens history museum
In a “bandage-cutting” ceremony Friday, officials unveiled the UNMC College of Nursing and Alumni History Museum, which documents its history of nursing education and care. The museum, located on the third floor of the college in Room 3000, will be open to the campus and public today from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

UNMC leadership team visits four Nebraska communities
UNMC’s leadership team went on a spring road trip last week. But, instead of connecting with oceans or mountains, the connection was with the citizens of Nebraska. For the second consecutive spring, UNMC’s leadership team journeyed across Nebraska making stops in four communities — Fremont, Columbus, Grand Island and Kearney.

Silent auction funds CON alumni initiatives
The College of Nursing Alumni Association will hold its annual silent auction on Friday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium. More than 120 items will be auctioned. All UNMC and hospital employees are invited to attend.

New museum chronicles College of Nursing history
With every box she opens Audrey Nelson, Ph.D., R.N., chairman of the UNMC College of Nursing and Alumni History Museum committee, gets more and more excited. Nurses and nursing students past and present will get to see these artifacts and many others with the opening of the UNMC College of Nursing and Alumni History Museum on Saturday, June 4. The museum is on the third floor of the College of Nursing.

At the end of a busy workday, Deb Romberger, M.D., can be found serving others at One World Health Clinic, the local hospice program or through her faith-based community. That’s what has kept the Kansas transplant connected to the Omaha community. It’s also the reason she joins an elite group of female leaders to be honored by the YWCA.
