Wellness Wednesday — CFHL to be better than ever after repairs

picture disc.Jayme Nekuda considers it a case of taking lemons and making lemonade.

A broken chiller pipe that caused significant damage to the Center for Healthy Living was certainly an inconvenience for members and many others who regularly use the facility.

But the silver lining is that when the center reopens, it will be better than ever, the director of the UNMC Benefits and Work-Life Programs Division said.

“While we wouldn’t have planned it this way, the repair time has allowed us to make some upgrades to the center that I believe members will enjoy,” Nekuda said.

Some new offerings members may notice when the center reopens are:
  • All new flooring made from recycled rubber designed specifically for sport activities;
  • More floor space for the weight and aerobic equipment;
  • Weight equipment grouped together;
  • Aerobic equipment grouped together;

  • Storage area outside the fitness classrooms for equipment such as yoga mats, Reebok steps, hand weights and other items;

A date has not been set for the center’s reopening but updates will be announced in UNMC Today in the headlines and in the “Fitness and Wellness Section.”
