Lookin’ at U: Jenna Corsey

Jenna Corsey

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn more about:

  • Name: Jenna Corsey
  • Hometown: Omaha
  • No. of years at UNMC: Almost one year (10 months).

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I work in the UNMC Department of Dermatology, where I am the office assistant II, the administrator for four of our physicians and the education programs coordinator for our department. My job can be challenging at times based upon completing tasks for both the education end and departmental/faculty end, which in return gives me the opportunity to learn how to multitask and be more efficient. Some of the things I do are greet and assist people coming into the office, handle schedules, coordinate meetings and travel for my physicians, as well as coordinate medical student rotation schedules and anything else they may need. My favorite part of my job is being able to display my skill set and knowledge. To have individuals recognize how hard I work is my driving force, and I am very proud of how far I have come in such a short amount of time.

Healing is one of our ITEACH values: Show the empathy you feel. Be selfless in caring for patients, one another and the community.
Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group at UNMC exhibit this value.

I get to hear stories of how our physicians show healing and empathy by taking that extra step to ensure their patients are
taken care of very well and that any issues or concerns they may have are addressed first hand. They take the time to ask how the patient is doing, what things they can do to make their experience better, making the patients concerns, their concerns. Our physicians and clinical staff go above and beyond to even help the community as well, educating them, offering Free skin cancer screenings and providing them with informative materials during our outreach events.

What is your favorite summer activity?
Buying thrift store items or furniture and repurposing them.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I can play the snare drum.
  • I am a very shy person, even though you would not believe it.
  • I can dance really well, but I am horrible at singing.
