Admission passes available for students

McGoogan Health Sciences Library has partnered with two Omaha area attractions to offer free admission for UNMC students. Passes to Fontenelle Forest and El Museo Latino are available for check out by contacting AskUs by phone 402-559-6221 or email.

The pass lending project is an effort to help UNMC students de-stress and experience the community. The passes can be beneficial to students who are new to the Omaha area by providing them a free opportunity to explore the city.

While it is not new for public libraries to offer community pass lending, it is not as common in academic libraries. McGoogan Health Sciences Library is the first library in the Omaha area to offer a pass in partnership with El Museo Latino.

The library staff is excited to make this new benefit available to students. Check out a pass, return it and repeat to take a break off campus.

Updated mobile passcode policies

Starting Thursday, Sept. 1, IT teams are modifying the current passcode policy on all managed corporate devices, including Voalte phones and corporate iPads, to align with IT and information security policies.

It will equalize differing settings across devices and standardize devices with one configuration policy. Users will see the following changes on their devices:

  • Screens will autolock after 1 minute and prompt users to enter the PIN code.
  • Passcodes will need to be changed every 90 days to match the password age requirements for enterprise workstations.

No action is needed on the part of users.
