Saliva PCR testing will close for holiday

Update on Wednesday, Dec. 21: The saliva PCR testing on the UNMC Omaha campus will close at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, and be closed on Thursday, Dec. 22, due to the weather.

As the holidays approach, people attend more events and reports of respiratory illness continue to climb, the UNMC community is encouraged to take advantage of free PCR saliva testing on the Omaha campus.

Testing remains available until Dec. 23 for faculty, staff and students who are not sick and want to be tested. Testing runs from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. as follows:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays in the Williams Science Hall, level one atrium
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays on the third floor between the Durham Outpatient Center and the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (by the Z elevators)

No reservations are needed, but individuals should register online prior to testing. Individuals who have previously registered for saliva testing do not need to re-register. This testing is available only to UNMC faculty, staff and students and is provided by UNMC’s Emerging Pathogens Laboratory. The testing is not available to the public.

Saliva PCR testing on the Omaha campus will pause Dec. 26 through Dec. 30 in observance of the holiday season and resume on Jan. 3.

With rising cases, campus leaders encourage individuals to wear masks, where appropriate, and if you are having symptoms of COVID-19 or flu, stay home and call Employee Health at 402-552-3563 or the Student Health clinic serving your campus.
