Starbucks coffee counter opens today inside Wigton center

The new “Starbucks – We Proudly Serve” coffee counter on campus is open for business as of Monday morning.

The counter is located inside the Wigton Heritage Center on the fourth floor of Wittson Hall, across from the Dr. Leland & Dorothy Olson Atrium.

It will be open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new location is the latest Starbucks counter on campus, in line with others in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Storz Pavilion and Lauritzen Outpatient Center. While the Starbucks at Durham Outpatient Center is a fully licensed Starbucks store, the Wigton counter is not – it will not use the Starbucks app, offer mobile ordering or accept Starbucks gift cards.

Along with cash and credit cards, campus badges will be accepted as a form of payment.

Available drinks are brewed coffee, teas, espresso drinks including lattes, Americanos and cappuccinos, Chai tea, blended frozen drinks including Frappuccinos, iced coffee drinks and refreshers. Rotating pastries such as muffins, croissants and danishes will be sold.

Not having a licensed Starbucks is disappointing. Surely we have the bandwidth for an additional Starbucks? Is this something that could be an option for the future?

I have Starbucks gift cards. Do the campus locations accept these? also, I’d like to see the on site Starbucks start offering and selling the canned Starbucks drinks. will they start doing this?

Is it the same menu as the one in Durham? Where can I find that?
