NU Board of Regents to visit UNMC on Thursday and Friday

The NU Board of Regents will meet in the Dr. Edward and Sally Malashock Atrium at the Davis Global Center.

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will visit the UNMC Omaha campus for two days of meetings on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 2 and 3. The regents will meet at the Davis Global Center, located at 4111 Emile St., in the Dr. Edward and Sally Malashock Atrium.

The Thursday meeting, set to start at 8:30 a.m., includes presentations from numerous significant UNMC projects and issues.

Presentations include:

  • UNMC: Serving Nebraska, Reaching the World.
  • Meeting the Nebraska Health Workforce Shortage Challenge: Office of Health Workforce Initiatives.
  • Shepherding Students into Health Professions Careers.
  • Creating Breakthroughs in Cardiovascular Health.
  • Innovating for Project Health through the Innovation Design Unit.

Away from the Davis Global Center, the regents will meet with UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, and UNMC vice chancellors, receive a tour of the EDGE District and Catalyst building, and visit the UNMC College of Pharmacy compounding lab for an interactive experience with the UNMC High School Alliance.

Friday is the regular business meeting of the NU Board of Regents, which starts at 9 a.m. at the Davis Global Center.

UNMC-related items before the regents include:

  • A presentation on UNMC military and veteran partnerships by Dr. Davies and Col. Elizabeth Schnaubelt, MD.
  • Consideration of Intermediate Design Report No. 2 for Project Health.
  • A report on contracting with Nebraska Medicine for an athletic medicine clinic supporting Nebraska Athletics student-athletes.
  • Appointment of Anne Barnes as interim vice chancellor for business and finance for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Barnes also serves as vice chancellor for business, finance and business development for UNMC and senior vice president and chief financial officer for the University of Nebraska System.
  • Appointment of Kyle Meyer, PhD, as associate vice chancellor for health workforce initiatives at UNMC. Dr. Meyer plans to step down as dean of the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions next summer.
