UNMC faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend the fourth annual InnovatED Symposium on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Truhlsen Campus Events Center in Omaha. Presented by the UNMC Interprofessional Academy of Educators (IAE) and UNMC Distance Education, the symposium brings together educators and professionals from across the university to explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning while connecting with colleagues who share a commitment to educational excellence. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Laura Brooks Dueland, co-founder of Inclusion Analytics, as our keynote speaker,” said Tanya Custer, PhD, director of the UNMC Interprofessional Academy of Educators. “The InnovatED Symposium will provide attendees with perspectives on generational differences and the factors that help to create a sense of belonging. Dr. Dueland’s session is sure to inspire meaningful conversations and offer practical strategies for strengthening connection, engagement and collaboration in educational environments.”
In addition to the keynote presentation, the symposium will feature sessions led by UNMC faculty and experts covering a variety of topics, including artificial intelligence, immersive simulation technologies, accessible learning experiences and other emerging trends shaping health professions education.

The event also will include recognition of the newest Distinguished Educators. The highest honor in IAE membership, the Distinguished Educator designation is awarded to faculty members who consistently demonstrate excellence in teaching and peer mentoring.
The InnovatED Symposium is free for UNMC faculty, staff and students, as well as IAE members. Advance registration is required. A $50 registration fee applies to non-UNMC attendees, with payment instructions provided after registration. Lunch will be included.
