New UNMC Faculty Senate leaders for 2026-27

The UNMC Faculty Senate officers include, clockwise from top left, Paul Fey, PhD, Brian Maass, Nicholas Woods, PhD, and Jordan Warchol, MD.

The UNMC Faculty Senate installed new leaders at its June 2 meeting. Faculty senate officers for 2026-27 are:

  • Paul Fey, PhD, faculty senate president and professor in the UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology
  • Brian Maass, vice president/president elect and assistant professor, data services librarian in the McGoogan Health Sciences Library
  • Nicholas Woods, PhD, secretary/treasurer and associate professor, UNMC Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases
  • Jordan Warchol, MD, immediate past president and associate professor, UNMC Department of Emergency Medicine

“It’s an honor to be elected,” Dr. Fey said. “The Faculty Senate is the voice of the faculty with the administration, and I’d like to ensure that those particular lines of communication from faculty to the Faculty Senate to the administration are clear.”

Dr. Fey said being senate president “provides a platform for you to be on committees that you wouldn’t otherwise be and provide a voice for the faculty in that regard. Again, it’s an honor and I’m happy to do it. It provides new challenges for your career.”

The Faculty Senate meets on the first working Tuesday of the month, September through June, at 5 p.m., and via Zoom. View meeting dates and agendas at this faculty senate link.
