Today marks the beginning of annual NuFlex benefits enrollment for the University of Nebraska faculty and staff. Enrollment begins at 8 a.m. Central Standard Time today and runs through 5 p.m. CST Friday, Nov. 13.
Items that need completed annually during this three-week period are:
- Updating your tobacco/nicotine designation
- Enrolling in Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for 2027
- Completing the Health Risk Assessment
- Reviewing your life insurance beneficiaries
- Verifying your Permanent Address
Employees can also review their current benefit elections and make changes for 2027.
Since changes are not allowed throughout the calendar year (with the exception of a few Internal Revenue Service-approved life events), it is imperative that all employees log into Firefly and then go into NuFlex Annual Enrollment to review and/or make desired changes/additions to their current benefits. A confirmation statement is available at the bottom of the module so employees can review their 2027 coverage elections. The UNMC Benefits Office suggests employees either print or save a copy of their confirmation statement, Health Risk Assessment and Statement of Health (if applicable) for their records.
Below are resources for employees having trouble logging into Firefly:
- Firefly Helpdesk phone number: 402-559-BUZZ (2899)
- Firefly Helpdesk email: Email from this link.
The University of Nebraska also put together a comprehensive FAQ, benefits enrollment guide and employee checklist. These resources can be located at Benefits Enrollment Help.
Employees should have also received an email Tuesday, Oct. 22 from the University of Nebraska benefits team. An NuFlex benefits newsletter was provided in that email outlining what is new for 2027. You can view a copy of that newsletter here.
Another resource for employees is the UNMC Benefits Office. Please contact the office with questions or to schedule a one-on-one meeting. Meetings can be scheduled via email at this link or by calling 402-559-4340.
