The UNMC College of Pharmacy team of P4s David Berger, David Bruce and Alex Duminy recently earned first place in a national competition at the American College of Clinical Pharmacy national meeting last month.

The UNMC team won the ACCP’s Clinical Pharmacy Challenge, which features five rounds of competition in a fast-paced, quiz bowl-style format. Pharmacy students must demonstrate clinical knowledge, teamwork and critical thinking skills. Berger, Bruce and Duminy were the second UNMC College of Pharmacy team to advance to the national quarterfinals and the first to win it all. UNMC defeated the University of Rhode Island in the final round.

“The college is very proud of the team and all the hard work that went into preparing for the competition,” said Don Klepser, PhD, Joseph D. Williams Endowed Dean. “They are amazing representatives of the quality of our students and program.”

“It was an honor to represent UNMC on a national platform,” Bruce said. “Certainly, there were tense moments of the competition, but our team dynamic and the numerous UNMC pharmacy students and faculty in attendance helped ease the pressure and gave us the confidence to perform at our best.”
