Improvements are coming to the Sorrell Center convenience store.
Construction begins today to enlarge the second-floor convenience store and allow for a variety of improvements including:
- A student-requested soda fountain.
- Small grill area, as well as grab-n-go soups.
- UNMC merchandise.
- A dedicated area for the Sorrell food vendors.
“I’m excited that we are able to make these improvements for our students,” said Tres Smith, convenience store supervisor.
The convenience store will remain open during construction, which is expected to run through mid-November. Store hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The existing ice machine will not be available during construction. However, the ATM, vending machines and microwaves will be accessible.
