Sexperts return to the Science Cafe stage

Sofia Jawed-Wessel, Ph.D., will be one of the presenters at tonight’s Omaha Science Cafe.

Sexuality, anatomy and gender are the focus of tonight’s Omaha Science Cafe — the third in a four-part series dealing with sexual health topics.

The Science Cafe begins at 7 p.m. at the Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St. Pizza will be provided by The Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures for the first 50 people.

Presenters include: Sofia Jawed-Wessel, Ph.D., assistant director of the Midlands Sexual Health Research Collaborative (MSHRC), and Jay Irwin, Ph.D., associate director of the MSHRC. For more information about the MSHRC visit the website.

Science Cafes involve a face-to-face conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone (21 and older), and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. A scientist gives a brief presentation followed by a question and answer period.
