Tell us what you do here at UNMC.
I work in the Human Resources (HR) records department. There are several types of duties within this department: processing employment verification requests, reviewing department I9 forms and processing them through the Academic Department Information System (ADIS), running/reviewing different reports and sending email notices to the department personnel administration (PA) coordinators, if needed. PA coordinators process all HR changes for their departments or units. I train and assist them on how to complete all new-hire paperwork, enter new employees and make changes to existing employees in the SAP system, and how to load/assign documents to ADIS. I also have been given the opportunity to create or work on HR-related projects through the HR records communication and data integrity team and the university-wide PA master data coordinators team. I'm also the lead for the Firefly help desk line and backup for the SAP security coordinator role. "Leadership" is a UNMC brand values. Tell us of a time when you witnessed leadership being practiced at UNMC.
In June and July of 2015, we experienced a larger than usual increase in hiring and an increase of employee recurring stipends. This caused an increase in data entry and the loading/reviewing of documents for ADIS on top of the fiscal year-end HR processes. It then took great leadership through the HR data integrity group to work together and use our resources to come up with a more timely and efficient way to meet these needs and at the same time continue to meet all other necessary deadlines. • My first job was at the Florence Community Center. On my breaks, I was taught the game of pool by my supervisor, who also happened to be a professional pool player.
  • I live in a household of four that is split between herbivores and omnivores.
  • Despite my practice of meditation and being what my wife refers to as "calm water," I do get upset or frustrated at times, just like all people do.

I've worked with Tony for years, and he has been my go-to guy on different SAP entry issues that have impacted the employee's benefits. He is unfailingly helpful and works to resolve the issues. He will not only take time to explain to me what caused them and how they can be handled, giving me a greater understanding of some of the processes , but he will also explain to the PA coordinators as well the impact on some actions on the employee's benefits. I absolutely agree with his wife – Tony is like calm water as we work through things.
