Resident Mindfulness group holds inaugural meeting Monday

The group of UNMC residents will meet once a month to discuss topics relevant to the experience of being a resident, share hope and strength, and provide support for each other in order to thrive in residency and prevent resident burnout.
Christine Nguyen, M.D., a family medicine resident, will host the event.
“It’s a non-obligatory, anyone-can-come group,” she said. “There’s no pressure. No attendance will be taken. The group’s emphasis will be on learning and implementing mindfulness in order to help residents manage stress and the challenges of the residency journey.”
Dr. Nguyen said the UNMC House Officers Association has agreed to support and fund the group. She thanked Alison DeLizza and Ana Damme of the Munroe-Meyer Institute for helping to facilitate the meeting.

Final flu clinic is next week
The final flu clinic for colleagues will take place at Nebraska Medical Center next week. It will be held in the lower Storz Pavilion, rooms 1 to 4 and is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 8 to 10 a.m.
Before you arrive for your flu shot, fill out a consent form by logging into the vaccination website. Bring your employee ID when you receive your vaccine.
All colleagues, providers and students are expected to track their vaccination status in the online system. Our goal is for 90 percent of our employees and health care providers to receive the influenza vaccine. Nebraska Medicine is currently at 86 percent vaccinated. More than 9,900 flu vaccines have been administered at Nebraska Medicine and UNMC.
