Employees can help promote a secure environment at UNMC in a number of ways including:
- Reporting suspicious or unusual activity to security immediately at 559-5111;
- Locking your office/area when it is unoccupied and at the end of the day;
- Securing personal belongings in a locker or in a locked drawer;
- Locking your vehicle and placing valuables out of sight if they must remain in the vehicle;
- Wearing identification badges at all times at work;
- Making sure people do not “tailgate” or follow you through secured doors;
- Asking strangers if you can assist them. Call Security at 559-5111 if you feel uncomfortable approaching a stranger or if circumstances seem suspicious.
Security staff routinely patrol buildings and grounds to detect and deter criminal activity. Security escorts are provided after hours upon request.
