Dr. Rennard to be featured on CBS news tonight

A CBS Evening News segment featuring Stephen Rennard, M.D., Larson Professor of Medicine in the UNMC Pulmonary and Critical Care Section, and his research on the nicotine vaccine will air tonight at 5:30 p.m. CST on KMTV Channel 3 (channel 5 on Cox Cable).

Dr. Rennard and his research also will be featured locally at 5 p.m. on KETV Channel 7 (channel 9 on Cox Cable).

A story about Dr. Rennard’s research will run in UNMC Today on Thursday.

Dr. Rennard, who in 2006 was named the first UNMC Scientist Laureate, has been a forerunner in smoking cessation research and is deserving of this national recognition, said Tom O’Connor, senior associate director of public affairs at UNMC.

“This is great national exposure for UNMC,” O’Connor said. “Dr. Rennard is truly one of our outstanding researchers, and it speaks volumes that CBS sought him out to do this interview.”
