Anne Bowen Fischer, a mainstay in the UNMC chancellor’s office since 2016, has been named the director of strategic relations and senior associate to the chancellor.
“Anne is the lynchpin for many of the Office of the Chancellor’s strategic activities in communities across the state, as well as our work with our advocates, and this job more accurately reflects additional roles that she has recently assumed,” Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, said. “I look forward to working with her as we continue to build partnerships throughout Nebraska and beyond.”
Dr. Davies noted that Fischer will serve as UNMC’s point of contact for the Board of Counselors – an advisory group of community leaders from throughout Nebraska – and several other internal and external stakeholders. She will continue to serve key functions such as strategic planning, public policy engagement and special projects leadership.
Fischer has assumed additional duties, Dr. Davies said, as Chris Kratochvil, MD, vice chancellor for external relations at UNMC, continues in his role as vice president for external relations for the University of Nebraska System.
“This position allows Dr. Kratochvil to focus his work on strategic communication and government relations activities, and he certainly will continue to be involved with our community relations work moving forward, as well,” Dr. Davies said.
Fischer said that she looks forward to continuing to advance UNMC’s mission through collaborative engagement and strategic alignment.
“I’m excited to continue to advance the institution’s strategic goals by fostering strong relationships with community stakeholders, supporting long-range planning efforts and leading initiatives and special projects,” Fischer said.
