The Police & Public Safety Department for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine will be updating the computer alerting “crawler” to a new cloud-based system that will allow colleagues to be alerted on their corporate-managed computer anywhere they have internet access.
Previously, the crawler worked only when a user was connected to the corporate network or when using the corporate GlobalProtect VPN.
The new system will be deployed in OneTap on Dec. 15. It already has been deployed to regular corporate computers and laptops.
The new crawler also features an updated look and sound. The message will be fully readable, and colleagues will not have to wait for the message to scroll. The message will disappear after 10 minutes or after a colleague presses the “Acknowledge and Close” button.
For a short time as police and public safety validate function, colleagues may receive the new crawler and the old version. This will allow the department to be sure the new solution is functioning properly before the old system is decommissioned.
