How I fell in love with my field:
I was torn between several areas of medicine when I spent a rotation in the pediatric intensive care unit during my fourth year of medical school. It was during that rotation that I realized I loved the interaction between physiology and patient care. I loved thinking through different organ systems and evidence-based care for each therapy provided and how that came together to treat critically ill children. As I got further into my training, I enjoyed thinking through things at a systems level to ensure quality care and patient safety are involved in each decision we make.
