Medical interests: I enjoy hepatology because it requires a holistic approach, not just medications and procedures, but also lifestyle modification and long-term follow-up. I see patients with a wide range of liver conditions, such as viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. Of these, I have a special interest in steatotic liver disease, formerly known as fatty liver disease, including both metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and alcohol-related liver disease.
How I fell in love with medicine and my specialty: I was drawn to the problem-solving nature of medicine during medical school. As a physician-scientist, I found it fascinating to integrate clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice, then derive research questions based on the insights from patient care.
