The Child Health Research Institute, a partnership between UNMC and Children’s Nebraska, will host the Heart & Vascular Disease Mini Summit on May 15 in the Glow Auditorium at Children’s Nebraska.

Registration is open for this half-day event, running from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. The event will focus on recent advancements and emerging trends in pediatric heart care, with a particular emphasis on technology and data integration.

The keynote address will be delivered by Michael Goldsmith, MD, director of cardiac informatics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Goldsmith, a pediatric cardiologist and clinical informaticist, specializes in leveraging physiologic data and advanced analytics to enhance care in the Cardiac ICU. At Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he spearheaded the integration of real-time patient-monitoring systems, enabling earlier detection and response to critical changes in patient conditions.

Following the keynote, the CHRI Heart & Vascular Area of Emphasis group will share updates on its recent activities and accomplishments. The event also will feature presentations from three members within the area of emphasis, highlighting their current projects:

  • Ayisha Bashir, MBBS, PhD, clinical research associate with Children’s Nebraska.
