The UNMC Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience seeks healthy adult volunteers to donate white blood cells for a research study. The research study (IRB# 0417-22-FB), led by study principal investigator Phyllis Warkentin, MD, aims to collect white blood cells from healthy volunteers.
These cells, known as peripheral blood leukocytes, support a wide range of laboratory studies across UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. Together, these donor-powered projects may help accelerate medical discoveries and bring new therapies closer to patients.
Interested in participating? You may be able to participate if you:
- Are 19 or older.
- Weigh at least 125 pounds.
- Meet U.S. allogeneic whole blood donor criteria (if you express interest in participating, you will be screened for these criteria).
- Have normal blood counts (hemoglobin, white cell count and platelet count).
If you are eligible and choose to participate, you will have one four-hour study visit, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on a Monday, at the Nebraska Medicine Apheresis Center Treatment Center on the second floor of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
If you are eligible and choose to participate, you may be compensated.
