Dr. Vose elected president of ASCO
UNMC’s Julie Vose, M.D., has been elected president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) for a one-year term beginning in June 2015. Dr. Vose will take office as president-elect during the ASCO annual meeting in Chicago in June 2014.

Dmitry Oleynikov, M.D., surgery, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Excellence in Medical Leadership Award by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). The award recognizes a distinguished SAGES member for exemplary leadership potential and helps optimize the honoree’s future impact in the medical industry. Dr. Oleynikov will be honored on April 2 at the 8th Annual SAGES Foundation Awards Luncheon in Salt Lake City.

Fourth annual UNMC Skate-a-thon to raise funds for Parkinson’s research
Previous three Skate-a-thons have raised total of $110,000

Even though Colleen Wuebben, the driving force behind the UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s, passed away 10 months ago, the fourth annual event will continue on Jan. 10-11 at the UNMC Ice Rink.
