Regents approve feasibility study for Saddle Creek Road
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Friday approved a proposed agreement with the City of Omaha to conduct a feasibility study for the relocation of Saddle Creek Road on the western edge of the UNMC campus.

UNMC lands $2.6 million grant for vascular research
Identifying new risk factors for vascular disease may help kidney transplant recipients lead longer, healthier lives. A $2.6 million National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant is enabling UNMC researchers to examine how non-traditional risk factors could play a role in vascular disease in kidney transplant recipients.

New Nebraska Center opened in Tokyo, Japan
Gov. Dave Heineman Friday announced the official opening of the new 565 square foot Nebraska Center in Tokyo, Japan. UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center are supporting the effort, which will promote the state’s products and services.

UNMC creates emergency medicine department
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Friday approved the establishment of a department of emergency medicine at UNMC. Since 1997, emergency medicine has been a section assigned to the UNMC Department of Surgery.

UNMC student enrollment reaches record high
Student enrollment at UNMC reached an all-time high for the second straight year, as 3,067 students are enrolled this fall, a 2.2 percent increase over last year’s total of 3,002.
