Lucia Cadetti, a post-doctoral fellow at UNMC, is one of 10 Fight for Sight 2005-06 Postdoctoral Fellowships recipients. Outstanding independent researchers were selected nationally. Fellows receive a $20,000 grant each year.

Teen awaits heart transplant
A new heart is the only thing that will save Justin Cornish’s life. The 16-year-old from Lincoln is a patient in the Clarkson Tower Cardiac Progressive Care unit and the fourth member of his family afflicted with Daner’s disease, a rare form of muscular dystrophy that strikes the heart muscle.

The Creighton University men’s basketball team stopped by the medical center Tuesday to practice a new offensive play – Operation Bear Hug. The only snag came at the end of the game when Creighton’s Anthony Tolliver was rejected by a little boy standing knee-high to the 6-foot-9 center.

The UNMC School of Allied Health Professions’ Division of Medical Technology has been renamed the Clinical Laboratory Science Program. The program also recently received a continuing seven-year accreditation.
