Ambassador of Hope gala set for Nov. 5
The Friends of the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Eppley Cancer Center will honor Omaha philanthropist Chuck Durham at its Ambassador of Hope Gala at the Qwest Center Omaha Friday, Nov. 5. They also will recognize the family of Liz Karnes for their efforts to raise awareness of cancer research.

McGoogan Library honored for consumer health resource
The U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) has announced that UNMC’s McGoogan Library of Medicine has been selected to receive the 2004 NCLIS Blue Ribbon Consumer Health Information Recognition Award for Libraries for Nebraska. This prestigious award will be presented today at 3:30 p.m., during a reception at the McGoogan Library of Medicine.

The UNMC College of Nursing and The Nebraska Medical Center will host Joanne Hickey, Ph.D., as its 15th Visiting Nurse Scholar, Oct. 28-29. Dr. Hickey is division head of acute and critical care and program director of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist programs at the University of Texas- Houston, School of Nursing.

Robak to leave university, join Lincoln firm
Kim Robak, who has served the University of Nebraska as vice president for external affairs and corporation secretary to the Board of Regents since January 1999, has announced she will leave that post effective Dec. 1. She will join the Lincoln firm of Ruth & Mueller LLC, which represents clients before Nebraska Legislature and state agencies.
