Employees recognized at annual service awards
More than 300 UNMC employees were honored the evening of June 15, at the annual UNMC Service Awards Dinner. This includes employees with service of five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years during 2004. It also includes employees who have retired during the last year, as well as the Gold U award recipients for fiscal year 2003-2004.

Study shows therapeutic promise for multiple sclerosis
It’s not a cure, but it is a step in the right direction. The results of a three-year study on the effects of autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) in four patients with advanced multiple sclerosis were published recently in the journal Multiple Sclerosis.

College of Pharmacy graduate honored
When Samuel Augustine, Pharm.D, first began pharmacy school in the late 1960s, there were only about 1,800 drugs on the market. Now that number approaches 10,000. That is just one of the many changes that has taken place in the world of pharmacy, said Dr. Augustine, who has been named the UNMC College of Pharmacy Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumnus.

New technology helps patients with inoperable tumors
